If you could rewrite the ending, would you? No, I wouldn't rewrite the ending. It had to end the way it did or it would have been plain wrong.

Favourite scene …. When Cal took Casper to the stables to see Wendy.

Forced read or pulled in? Pulled me right into this murderous mess and every page had something that caught my attention. You just don't want to stop reading.

Places in book? Creepers Gate, Dog and Bull, Evergreen.

Summarize book? The book was about a band of gypsies. Many children were murdered in the most heinous ways. The community was enraged and then committed murder as well when they thought they were killing the murderer.

What are some of the book's themes? This book was like watching the evening news. It had murder, money, politicians, bribes, lies and deceit. Everyone was trying to outdo the other person and everyone felt they were doing the right thing.

What did you like most about the book? I liked the concept of the story and how the author then developed this concept into a full length novel. I am also certain that the book will make a great movie.

Did the book end the way you expected? The ending was a surprise to many of us at the book club, myself included. Jack Canon's charisma and dynamic personality is really tested in every way possible.

What have you read that is similar to this book? I have read several historical romance books but none with the exact same plot and twist wrote in by Ms. Farmer.

Is the title a good one or a poor one and why? Good title. Each of the characters had secrets they were unwilling to reveal to the other.

What lesson did you learn from the story? Never keep secrets from a spouse. He or she is the one person we need to trust the most. If we cannot trust our spouse then we need to question who we do trust.

If you were to talk with the author, what would you want to know? What gave her the idea for such an eerie tale. This is definitely a unique and original idea.

If you could rewrite the ending, would you? No, would leave everything just as the author wrote. I loved the fact that no one saw the ending coming.

What I liked most about the main character. Loved Kevin’s curiosity in everything.

What part would you change in the story, and why? I would have Charlie and Ethan meet. This is the only thing I would change.

Do any characters grow or change during the course of the novel? For a short story the main character that changes is Thomas. He grew in knowing that he lived because of a miracle.

Why would you recommend or not recommend this book? I am unsure if the author was trying to eradicate personal demons, questioning the existence of God, or just showing how God allows us all a choice in our actions. This book is not a light read. The author has given readers questions that only we can truly answer. For anyone interested in a deeper thought, then yes I highly recommend this book.

If you could continue the story, what events would you include? Why? I would not continue the story. They all finished nicely and allowed readers a glimpse into deep thought.

What would the main character be likely to do if s/he visited? Martin would talk about Rose and his love for her.

What are some of the book's themes? The book was about the occult, demons and angels. It contained love, hate, murder and rape. All were necessary to hold the readers interest.

If you were in a problem situation like one in the book, how would you have acted? I would have sat real still, just like Rose did. The device was under her chair.

How did the main character change during the novel? Sylvie starts off as a self-conscious teenager who is the target of the school to become a person who will do everything she can to get the attention of the boy she loves.

What was the book's central question, and how was it answered? Self-acceptance (in the midst of some absolutely original paranormal elements). Sylvie is so sick of her life, she wants to step out of her skin, literally.

Did you learn something new from the book? This is the paranormal book I've read that goes into detail about astral projection and I learned many new things about this.

Favourite scene …. When they blew the Phobos up.

Which did you find more appealing, the introduction or the conclusion? The conclusion. I wasn't expecting it and the build up towards it was extremely entertaining.

Do you find the characters convincing? The characters are fairly convincing although some parts of the dialogue seemed artificial. It seemed almost Star Trekk-ish and I'm not sure if this was intentional.

How did you feel about the main character? I liked Leine and trying to protect/find the children.

What were the main themes of the book? Broken trust, torture and betrayal. The author did a fantastic job executing the themes and you can feel all emotion on every level.



Which did you find more appealing, the introduction or the conclusion? Definitely the ending. You really feel scared for Marc and the reader is relieved when his nightmare ends.



Favourite character(s) … Marc was my favorite. His perseverance and courage are amazing.

How you define yourself is a central theme in this story. I could see myself as Benedict, making sure something dangerous did not get on the market. However, it stops there. Could not see myself as someone interested in artifacts or historical documents.

If you could rewrite the ending, would you? I might include what happened to Peter’s wife Jennie but then again it would probably take away from everything.

Consider the ending. Did you expect it or were you surprised? A little surprised about the turn, but I do not think how I envisioned would have worked.

Who in this book would you most like to meet? Would love to meet Olga. I picture her with a nice accent, tall, light brown hair.

What are some of the major themes of this book? Although the book is classified as a thriller, in some ways, the sections on Dahlia were closer to coming of age. She grows up, mentally and emotionally.

What did you think of the style of the writer? I liked her style a lot. She is a talented writer and I look forward to enjoying her other books.

What did you like about it? This award winning story is witty, thrilling and tugs at your heartstring. It is very difficult to find one story that is able to evoke all this in a reader. This reader is definitely happy with this book.

Was it a good book? This is not a book to read as a stand-alone. It needs to be read with the series. It is interesting but readers are left wondering about so much.

Was the story credible? I admit to questioning some parts of the story. But that could be from not reading any other books in the series. Most actions by the characters seemed plausible.

Is the title a good one or a poor one and why? I can see how The Italian connection played into the story. Still questioning the Dojo Boys. This has me stumped.
